Metro Sports Facility

Our work on the landmark project demonstrated our comprehensive civil construction expertise. As the contractor responsible for bulk earthworks, carpark construction and landscaping, the project showcased our ability to handle complex, multi-stage developments.

Land remediation

Protranz managed the removal of 18,200m³ of asbestos-contaminated material and 1,250m of ACM water main and stormwater pipes. This delicate operation required careful coordination with environmental authorities and stringent safety protocols.

Regular coordination with Otakaro, ECAN, and the CCC ensured all environmental and regulatory requirements were not just met, but exceeded.

Major earthworks and technical expertise

The scope then expanded to include major bulk earthworks, with the team executing a cut-to-waste operation of approximately 50,000m³ and importing 40,000m³ of hardfill material. Technical challenges included the installation of 500m of sheet piling, dewatering of a 4.5m deep pool area, and the precise placement of 70 screw piles.

Foundation and infrastructure development

A standout achievement was the construction of foundations for the main 16,900m² building, completed under challenging geotechnical requirements. The project culminated in extensive external works, including multiple internal roads and carparks, featuring 19,800m² of asphalt laid to exacting quality standards.

Full-service capability

Our work on the Metro Sports Facility project showed our ability to manage complex, large-scale projects from site remediation through to final landscaping, all while maintaining the highest quality, safety, and environmental standards.
